Get The COVID-19 Vaccine In Sutton

COVID-19, a virus with the potential for serious illness, is best thwarted with the COVID Vaccine. It not only keeps you safe but also boosts your chances of staying healthy.🔒💪

If you’re in Sutton or the surrounding area, it’s crucial to get vaccinated as soon as possible to protect yourself against this virus.

Starting from September 11th, millions of eligible people will have the opportunity to receive the COVID vaccine, following the latest expert guidance on the new COVID variant. The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) and the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) have made this change in response to the risks posed by the new BA.2.86 variant.

The NHS is taking pre-emptive measures by swiftly initiating the adult COVID and flu vaccination programs, originally scheduled for October. This move aims to provide maximum protection throughout the winter months. Priority will be given to those most at risk, including adult care home residents. The NHS is determined to administer vaccinations to as many eligible individuals as possible by the end of October. Stay informed and stay safe!

Who Can Get The COVID-19 Vaccine?

Since the launch of the vaccine programme in December 2020, the COVID-19 vaccine has been administered to the vast majority of the UK population. This includes 89.1% of individuals who have received the first dose, with 81% having completed both doses.

Moving forward, it is anticipated that COVID-19 infections will continue to coexist with seasonal influenza and other respiratory viruses in the months ahead. We remain equipped to offer the COVID-19 vaccination to all eligible patients. The COVID-19 vaccines provide high levels of protection against hospitalisation or dying from the virus.

A Guide To The COVID-19 Autumn Program

The COVID-19 vaccine will be provided during the autumn for individuals aged 65 and above, residents in older people’s care homes, individuals aged 6 months and above in a clinical risk group, and health and social care personnel.

Eligibility

A dose will also be available for:

  • Frontline health and social care staff
  • Caregivers for vulnerable individuals
  • Families of individuals with weakened immune systems

The autumn program targets those at high risk of COVID-19 infection complications who may not have received vaccination in recent months.

Given the potential increase in COVID-19 infections during winter, this dose aims to mitigate the risk of hospital admission due to COVID-19. The vaccine may also offer some protection against mild COVID-19 infection, although its effectiveness may diminish over time.
